    Hello.

I have been evaluating (drowning in) various CMS systems in search of the product that I want to use for my client, and for future sites as well. I think that MODx is that solution. I will keep it short as I know you are all busy. Here is what I need to be able to do:

    • Once the existing static web site is migrated over the client will take over the content. Only one user will manage the back-end and the content. He has some HTML experience, but more a content creator.

    • They want a "blog" but really it is just one or two articles per month added by that user. Comments will probably not be included. So not really a blog and no major blog features are needed.

    • There will be four types of visitors to the site. Unregistered, Registered, VIPs and Press. There is no content creation by any of the users. It is strictly read only access to content. Unregistered will have some basic content and access to some articles, Registered users will have access to more articles, VIP’s will have access to lots of content (VIPs are by invitation only), and Press will have access to a special section for media material.

    • The client would like the registration/password system to include client password recovery and easy registration, plus the ability to sign VIP’s up manually (with auto email generation).

    • The navigation will need to not show links the user does not have access to. And change when the user logs in.

That’s really about it. I am sure hoping that MODx is the perfect solution for this as I am excited to dig in and start using it. I was thinking that I may need to get WebloginPE to accomplish this project, but wanted to hear from you that my thinking is right.

Thank you so much for any input you have.

That fits MODx absolutely perfectly indeed. In fact, the demo content that ships with MODx covers most of the features you need. Re-skin it, port in your old content and you’d be done.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I will definitely present this approach to my client.

Thank you. I quickly took a look and it looks very easy to follow.
