    Hi,

I’m looking to integrate a forum with Modx (1.0.4) by way of syncing the web-user login.
I found this post, http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,32824.0.html for the SMF bridge but it doesn’t sound too successful.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    J

I use SMF to manage users and use custom ssi functions to call and display what I want on the modx controlled area of my site.

There is a snippet in the extras section which can be used to call the ssi functions.

        Hi, thanks for your reply.
Could you be more specific in what you did please?

I am about to try this out: http://modxcms.com/extras/package/419
is this what you used? If so did you have to modify parts to work with Evo?

        Thanks again

No I haven’t used that one. Might be worth a try.

          I meant this here http://modxcms.com/extras/package/?package=420.

Once you have it set up you can call different functions from modx such as ssi_login which dsiplays a login form. Or ssi_welcome which displays a welcome message such as ’Welcome >user_name<’ or ’Welcome guest, please login or register.’

Then if needed you can add extra ssi functions in SSI.php in your forum folder.

For example I created a function to check if the user is logged in, I call that with a snippet and can use it to restrict access to different things in the modx controlled part of the site.
