My site currently was hijacked... I have backups of all my mysql but I’m not sure how to place them back and get my old site back. Can anyone direct me to the right place?

    thanks!

      hi,

if you really have a complete backup of your db, the easiest way for you to go back to a normal situation would be to use phpMyAdmin, delete all your tables and use the sql tab to inject your dump into you db. Actually the same way you processed when moving a site from local to prod server i guess smiley

thanks. that helped on my virtual sites. my problem is the main site is 3 gigs and phpmyadmin isn’t handling it well. I changed my php.ini to accept large imports, but it’s still struggling.

Have you ever cleared the system events log and the manager actions log? What version of MODx is this?

I’m also thinking that if it’s an older version of MODx, it might still have all those visitor logs. Those could really load up a database.

If your db tables are that large, phpMyAdmin will have a lot of trouble because it runs on PHP, and PHP has memory limits enforced. If you can get to a command line and use the command line mysql utility, that’s a much better way to load up database tables. I’ve had to abandon phpMyAdmin when my databases exceeded 20mb, so I’d be surprised if phpMyAdmin were able to pull off restoring backups larger than a gigabyte.

I never have cleaned my mysql. I update my modx site as they release, but i started years ago. I will try to clean. I did however manage to upload the 3 gig mysql file. I used a sweet program called BigDump (http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php).
