Hi . . .
I want to use Modx as an Intranet CMS for my client. It would work well but I have a question. They want people to access the intranet site to download printing materials, etc. but they would also want people to Log into the site and once signed in they would see only what my client wants them to see in regards to navigation. Basically turning off navigation areas or turning on navigation areas depending upon the user visiting the site. Can that be done with Modx? I want to use Modx as the CMS but can I create a login with Modx that will do this?
thanks,
Daniel

It can be done with MODx Revolution relatively easily with the help of the user system, login, wayfinder and getResources.
Now, for intranet, i know that Drupal as a dedicated plugin named Open Atrium.
I don’t know about the other requirements of your project but if you have time constraint and/or budget limit, Open Atrium might be more appropriate than MODx where you will have to build most of your needed functionalities.
Is Drupal easy to use like Modx? I have not used Drupal but I can try it.
thanks,
Daniel

It is not as easy as MODx (from a MODx dev pow) but some (powerful) tools are available for it.
Tools that do not exist for MODx yet.
This can be done with contexts and permissions...
the front part will be done with ifs and the permissions set in
each user group...
