I have never used weblinks but I am going to look that up now.

After re-reading seanf’s original post, I realize that in trying to clarify what he wanted to do, I just complicated it.
You wouldn’t need ditto just for extra menus or submenus.
My bad...
That said, I read the article in Sotwell’s link, and I don’t really understand why one would use weblinks instead of wayfinder.

Weblinks are not a replacement for wayfinder they are 2 different things.
OK i’ll try to explain
Think of this menu
Page 1 ( page 1 content )
Page 2 ( page 2 content )
page 3 ( page 1 content )
To get this I would create the following:
Page 1 ( new page )
page 2 ( new page )
Page 3 ( web link linking to page 1 )
Then to get my navigation I would use wayfinder that would display the following:
Page 1 ( links to page 1 )
Page 2 ( links to page 2 )
Page 3 ( links to page 1 )
Hope that makes sense
Paulp-
That makes total sense.
I never have needed to do something like that, nor have I thought of it.
Seeing it laid out like that clarified.

A real-world example might be wanting to have links to your Contact page in different menu structures. For example, your Contact resource is in the top level of the Tree, and is the last link in the site main menu. Now, you want to have a menu of utility pages (TOS, privacy policy, accessibility policy, site map and a link to the contact page). If you put all of your utility resources in their own container you can use Wayfinder to generate the footer menu in case you add or delete these items. If you use a weblink here, the utility menu in the footer will have a link to your contact page; no need to duplicate the contact form for the footer menu.
