    Howdy ho,

Brand new modx user as of today smiley I’ve been using Etomite for years now, but thought I’d give modx a whirl on a new site I’m building - am liking it so far.

Anyway, I’m a bit obsessed with page load time, so one of the first things I did is compare load time for a basic page loaded in modx, etomite and as a standard HTML page.

Modx *appeares* to be adding a 0.3 second load on the headers. I’ve tried various settings, and disabled the HTTP headers but getting the same results.

I’m using the same HTML template & content, with no snippets called.

In my very non-scientic tests, I’m seeing these average times:

    Basic HTML Page
    resolve 0.7 ms 2%
    connect 14.0 ms 44%
    headers 13.7 ms 43%
    body 3.7 ms 11%
    Total: 32ms

    Etomite Site
    resolve 17.7 ms 33%
    connect 13.9 ms 26%
    headers 19.1 ms 36%
    body 2.7 ms 5%
    Total: 53ms

    Modx Site
    resolve 0.1 ms 0%
    connect 13.7 ms 4%
    headers 0.32 s 95%
    body 2.1 ms 1%
    Total: 0.34s

I’ve spent ages tweaking my VPS to get the best performance from it, hence the ultra fast page load times........though I need to work out why modx is adding the extra load.

Running nginx & the revolution build.

I would really appreciate if anyone got any thoughts ideas on this as it looks like a smart CMS to use?

    Cheers
    Ben.

You do realize Revo is a totally different application than Evolution, which still has a healthy chunk of its Etomite origins. Comparing Revo to Etomite is like comparing apples to raisins.

        Howdy

        Cheers for the info.

Any pointers to see if I can ID the header loading "issue" then (I accept a 0.3 extra load time isnt an issue for most people).

        Thanks
        Ben.

            Howdy

Well, the only difference in header information between modx & eto (sorry I nothing else to compare it too, eto is the only cms I use) is the cookies.

Eto sets 2 cookies, modx sets a PHPSESSID cookie..........I wouldnt have thought this was is.

Think I’ll install Evolution when I get 5mins and run some tests against each other.

            Cheers
            Ben.

I don’t think it’s the headers themselves per se, but the processes going on behind the scene that generates the headers.
