Modx login doesn't work, just resets the login page

Hi

I have just installed modx, and I can no longer login through the manager. I have checked the logins are correct. The only thing that happens is the page resets.

I would love some help, as I can’t figure it out.

MySQL version 5.0.91-community
Apache version 2.2.15
PHP version 5.3.2

Browsers:

Firefox 3.6.8
Safari 5.0

I’m sorry i’m not sure how to check if pdo_mysql is installed.

I probably should mention, I was able to login right after the install, but i was having a problem with templates where "/" were being added everytime I viewed it and it was making impossible to edit the file.

In an effort to fix that I created a php.ini file in the root directory and added the line;

magic_quotes_gpc = Off

After that I started getting session start errors regarding safe mode, which is when the next line was added;

safe_mode = Off

After that I couldn’t login, and I found a potential fix on http://bobsguides.com/, which said to add this line;

memory_limit = 128M

My host hasn’t got back to me yet about restarting the server so I’m not sure if its work or not but I was hoping somebody on here would be able to shed some light on it.
