Hi . . . . I am using the modxhost template sample site as a basis for my clients site, making revisions to incorporate their design, etc. Now . . . the search worked upon installation but as soon as I started to customize the design the search stopped functioning. Once and a while I will get some response from it what I try a test but most of the time it is not working. It’s strange that it does work once and a while but most of the time nothing happens when I click the search button. Any ideas? I never touched the header area where the search field is situated.
thanks,
Daniel
Here is the search code from the index. Anything look out of place here?
<div id="search"><!--search_terms--><span id="search-txt">SEARCH</span><a name="search"></a>
<form id="ajaxSearch_form" action="index.php?id=8" method="post">
<fieldset>
<input type="hidden" name="advsearch" value="oneword" />
<label>
<input id="ajaxSearch_input" class="cleardefault" type="text" name="search" value="Search here..." onfocus="this.value=(this.value==’Search here...’)? ’’ : this.value ;" />
</label>
<label>
<input id="ajaxSearch_submit" type="submit" name="sub" value="Go!" />
</label>
</fieldset>
</form>
thanks,
Daniel

Did you add any other javascript to the pages? Does the search work if you are logged in to the Manager and not when you aren’t (or vice versa)? Are you using the AJAX search feature, or having it go to a different page for search results? Have you modified the QuickManager plugin’s configuration?
Usually this will be caused by javascript conflicts. I believe the latest version of AS can be configured to use JQuery instead of Mootools, which avoids a major portion of conflicts.
I am using the search that comes with the sample modxcms. I just customized the sample template, adding my new graphics and making cosmetic changes to the CSS. I havent added any new java or Ajax, etc.
This is the search listed in the snippets area
# Search
* AjaxSearch (Cool - 1.9.0 Ajax and non-Ajax search that supports results highlighting
It will not work weather or not I am logged into the manager.
I am using the Ajax search feature since that is what comes with the modxhost sample template.
