I’m testing modx and have a question regarding file import. I need to upload multiple files. I noticed you cannot select multiple files in the file selection dialog. Is there a way to select multiple files in the files? If modx works for a smaller web site I manage I plan to use it for a larger web site with hundreds of pages and I do not want to have to open the window and select a single file several hundred times.

In that case you would be advised to create either a module or a front-end page that has uploadifier or some other script to allow multiple uploads; see EvoGallery for an example. Or upload a zipped file and unzip it in place (if your server has PHP’s zip feature enabled; or you can use a zip library as SkinGraft, BkupMODx and other snippets and modules do).

If you’re using Revo, it will be easier to even create a custom Template Variable with multiple upload capabilities. With Eveo, you can do so if you use the version of Evo with custom TVs. I’m using it with a multiple image uploader, and it works very well.

Thanks for the info. I’m running Revolution and have zip enabled in PHP. I’ll take a look at the solutions you mentioned. Seems like something that would be nice to have out of the box. Maybe I can write something and create my first contribution to modx.

Easier done than said. I simply had to put the files in the core/import folder in the file system and import from the manager.
