Losing work because logged out with no warning

I see this has been a thread before, but I registered here just to able to search the forum after being driven up a tree for about the 20th time by losing work because, at least as far as I can tell:

(1) There is no auto-save;
(2) The program doesn’t recognize the fact that I’m currently right in the middle of making changes means I presumably don’t want to be logged out automatically -- with absolutely no warning prompt first, like is so standard elsewhere -- and lose my work; and
(3) The timeframe is so short I have to save constantly -- and in doing so exit my document every time and have to reenter it.

Does anyone have a solution for the non-techie lay user I might just be missing? Or can’t MODX fix this? I see the same gripe on threads from years ago. Thanks.

WIthout knowing anything about your MODx version, server info or any other relevant technical details it will be very difficult to figure this out. Please see "help us help you" in my signature for more details.
