I am setting up a site for an online bookshop. The home page will feature a selection of products that are on special offer. I am trying to make things as simple as possible for client but think I am getting my head all muddled up and perhaps making things a lot more complicated for me in the process.

My thought is that the client should only have to create one resource per product. There should be a tv for ’price’ and another one for ’special offer price’. Then, there could be a checkbox tv for ’special offer’. If the checkbox is ticked, then the contents of the special offer tv will be displayed on the product page, otherwise it’s the normal price. Also, my ditto call on the home page should then be able to pick out products which are ticked for special offer and randomly display 6 of those.

Am I asking for too much? Is there a better way of achieving this? I just spent the weekend getting another site to go live and my head is melted. Can’t think. Any help appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Have sorted this out now not by using a checkbox but a normal text tv (Special Offer yes/no) and then using a ditto call filtering out all documents with ’no’ in this tv. The template used with this ditto call shows the special offer price tv instead of the normal price tv and the output is randomized. Actually all straightforward enoughonce the brain cells were back to normal smiley
