Hello! First of all, I registered modx just a few hours ago, and just by looking at it it seems really hard for me to understand.
http://pligg.warplay.net/ is my test domain. I don’t want any fancy logins or anything, I already have what I want there, but I want to know, Is there any way to use modx to make a module that can post under the New Tutorials(more...), add the latest tutorial, put in in a list on the Tutorials webpage and make a new document with the tutorial inside.

I have everything done in css and html as you can see if you view the source, I just need a faster way of doing this than editing the html all the time.

Not sure if i fully understand ..
But here s my five cents

To post ’under’ the new tutorials section you just create a page there in the site tree structure in the left part of the /manager ...

(its in the context menu when you click on a document : ’create doc here’ ..

this way you can create many tutorials .. but then you would like MODx to automatically make a list right:

this where ditto comes in : it’s a snippet : I highly recommend you read :
      http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/04/25/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-7-introducing-ditto/
      and
      http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/05/01/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-8-more-ditto/

you can type in the tutorial section page (the one with the tutorials hanging underneath it in the site tree ... )
just for instance in the content field this ditto snippet call :
      [!Ditto? &parent=`[*id*]` display=`all`!]

      good luck !

Oh, I think I understand now.

I thought I could just import my html and css documents, but it seems as I have to redo the whole website to modx language right?

I managed to add a new template, up till now I had only used the regular files. But I can’t seem to find anywhere where I can put my css.

Usually we have a folder in the assets/templates folder for our template, and keep template-specific stuff like .css files and background images in there. However, you can put them anywhere you like, you just need to link to them in your template head, just as you do any HTML document.

yes ... well .. redo the site .. if you have an existing site you can ’import’ it ... tools > import site from html ...

Of course this still would require rework in MODx (checking links etc... ) But I have used it for migrating a dreamweaver / contribute website to MODx ..
the site was already using the template function of dreamweaver so what i did was create a very bare version : almost no layout and then import it
and then lay layout ontop through the very easy to learn templating language ...

I really only need modx for one thing now, so I’m asking here.

Is there an addon or something that adds a WYSIWYG-editor that adds whatever I write to a .php file and makes it a list?
I mean, like it should be able to make a new page with the tutorial, but at the same time print the title, time and adress to the tutorial in a .php file.

              This way I could just add some <?php include("newtuts.php"); ?> in the <ul class="list"></ul>
