I’m having trouble locating any info on this topic in the forums or in extras. I have a new MODx project coming my way and document management is part of it. I don’t think it needs to be super sophisticated by any means. Can resources actually be "physical" documents in MODx? Has anyone used MODx as a DAM or document manager? Would this be better suited for Evo or Revo or either? (I’m only still clinging to Evo due to the wealth of snippets and information out there though I know Revo has a lot more power). Thanks in advance for any input on this matter.
Whoo hoo for 2.0.0-pl !
Yes, resources can point to physical docs on the filesystem. Check out "Static Resources".

Thanks so much, splittingred. So static resources look to be specific to Revo. Perhaps Revo is going to be my best bet for a project like this? The other main component of this project is a forum, which doesn’t need to be ridiculously full-featured either. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about finding info on doing forums in Revo (completely integrated design-wise is preferred but probably not required)?
Excellent. Good to hear it from the source that forum stuff is indeed complex. That helps to build a case with the client in telling them why it looks different and goes elsewhere.
Looks like I’m between two worlds with having a single sign-on with MODx and SMF in Evo and utilizing Static Resources in Revo. Hopefully someone’s got a Revo version of "SMF Forum Integration" in the works—if it’s possible with Revolution.
I look forward to trying out Discuss! You guys rule.
If we decide that static resources aren’t a necessity (most of the assets are just links to external PDFs I guess) does anyone think that myforum is a good option? Looks like we could use a single MODx web user login and integrate the forum into the actual shell of the main site.
