Hi,
I’ve recently been handed the task of setting up a community driven site, whilst I understand that the forum could be an issue if I use MODx, there is no great urgency to have the full site up and running, so I am hopeful the forum solution will be available within the next few months.
What I do need to have up and running though is a teaser site where users can register their interest. Ideally, I’d like a static index page with a simple registration form in it, this would add them to the site’s user database and enable us to contact them when the site goes fully live.
Is this something that would be possible with MODx? Could I install the CMS and pull out the registration section and stick on a single page, hiding the rest of the CMS from the user completely?
I’d really like to be able to use a pre-built CMS that I can modify, instead of building a CMS from scratch myself.
If it is not possible, I guess an alternative is to built a simple registration system myself that replicates the registration process of MODx, then when the time comes for the full site to go live, I just import the data from the teaser database into the full MODx database. Would there be any complications with doing this?
Thanks,
-

Well I believe there is a MODx and SMF bridge that you can utilize - SMF is a nice forum so integrating both into it would be nice.
