Hello
I’m just triyng Modx revo, and i discovered "packman".
I wondering if it would be possible to create a "blog distrib" for modx. I know that packman can help me export chunks, snippets, templates, TV, plugins and even files.
However it’s not sufficient to make my blog works on another modxrevo installation, because i need that exists
- one resource associated with my homepage blog template
- a "container" resource witch will contains blogs Posts
I know that for now, it’s not possible to export resources with tpackman.
But at least, is there a way from to allow user to choose somewhere in a form two settings ?
- id of the resource for the blog homepage
- id of the resource for the folder containing Posts
Wich is the best way to achieve this ? i was thinking about creating a snippet which will holds those settings in a php array, allowing to set them by overriding properties in the snippet UI. Maybe there is a better way to export those settings, so that it will be painless to configure and quick to redeploy ?

FWIW, creating Vertical Distributions of MODx for specific site types is going to be one of the big efforts once we complete the public launch of MODx Revolution. That said, when you build packages for MODx, you can provide user input options that are collected before and applied to the install. Not something you can do with packman for now, but you can when manually building transport packages.
glad to see this is on modx revolution roadmap
in my case, the ideal would be the ability to export resources with predefined settings, but i guess resources are harder to import than chunks or snippet since they only have id and no machine names, so it could conflict with existing resources.
