    Hello,

I installed modx a few days ago but the texteditor isn’t working.

Also I get those configuration warnings, maybe this has something to do with it:

Één of meer configuratie opties zijn onjuist gebleken:

Configuratie waarschuwing: ’register_globals staat op ON in uw php.ini configuratiebestand’

    Wat betekent dit?
Deze instelling maakt uw website veel gevoeliger voor Cross Site Scripting (XSS) aanvallen. Neem contact op met uw host over hoe u deze instelling kunt uitzetten.

Configuratie waarschuwing: ’GD and/or Zip PHP extensions not found’

    Wat betekent dit?
MODx needs the GD and Zip extension enabled for PHP. While MODx will work without them, you will not be able to take full advantage of the built-in File Manager, Image Editor or Captcha for logins.

When I try to edit a page, modx force me to write in code, I installed modx to avoid writing in code.

The pulldown menu for the texteditor is empty:

I though tinymce came standard with modx, I found the files on my ftp:

But when I look at the modx plugin page, it says there are no plugins.

I hope that somebody can help me to solve this problem, thanks!

    Lennart

I’m not sure if it’s related to TinyMCE failing to load..... but it can’t hurt looking in to getting GD installed and getting Register Globals to be turned off....

You could try running the installer (upgrade) again, and making sure the RTE is checked. Sounds to me like it wasn’t installed properly (which would leave the file there, but no mention of it in the manager)

I re-insalled modx without any trouble but still have the same problem.

How can I install GD and turn off Register Globals?

Depends on your host. Some allow you to set some .htaccess rules, whereas others allow you to change it in a cPanel of some sorts etc. Easiest is usually to ask your host how it can be disabled.

You didn’t get any errors or warnings during install?

Could you perhaps check the error logs (in the manager, Reports -> System Events) for anything that might be related?

Alright, I will contact my host and see if they can solve the problem.

I didn’t got any error or warning during install and the error logs are empty.

I’m using plesk as control panel for my host.

Thanks for responding, is it hard to install GD with .htacces?

I don’t think you can install it with htaccess, it needs editing the php.ini file...

Some things randomly coming to mind to check/try:
              - Look up your PHP version (System -> Info -> phpinfo()), and while doing that see if there’s any mention of GD in that page
              - Try manually installing the plugin, I think this is the last Evolution release in the repository: http://modxcms.com/extras/package/459?version=882 (instructions are on that page)

Good to hear that’s solved! smiley

Perhaps (as GD seems to be installed) you’re missing the Zip extension (almost overlooked that error).

Not sure what it’s used for in Evo, but I’d suggest passing that on to your host.

In Evo it’s only used for unzipping uploaded zip files in the Manager file manager.
