    Hi all,
I’ve created Manager Users, Web Users and Document Groups.

I’ve stumbled across two problems that I can’t solve satisfactorily:

    1. A Manager Users can’t preview a page that he can edit, when access permission of this page is set to the Document Group that this manager can edit (Manager User is member of group "A", group "A" is linked to Containter/Document Group "A").

    The wiki says (http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Document_Access_Permissions):
Note that in this setup, the Manager Users would not see many of the documents in the front-end when not logged into the Manager unless added to the appropriate Web User groups.

How can I add a Manager User to a Web User group? The Access Permission part at the bottom of the Manager User seems to affect only the editing rights and not the Web User rights.

The only way for a Manager User to preview the edited page that I came up with is to login in the Frontend too - kind of weird.

    2. When I log in as a Web User first, and after that as a Manager User, the Web User is logged out too as soon as I log out from the backend.

As I’m new to MODx it is quite likely that I overlook something obvious - so any pointers for a correct setup and best workflow for this manager-permission access problem are welcome.

        Thanks for the link.

The last post in that thread links to this thread, which describes a solution: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2322.0.html

Now I try to understand what is described there ...

Another way to go is to switch to MODx Revolution where the distinction between Web Users and Manager Users is gone. There are just Users.

The conversion is not trivial and you’d have to learn how to do permissions in Revolution, but there are many other advantages to Revolution.

Yeah, I thought so too. Since I’m new to MODx I could as well learn Revolution. I’ll definately have a look at Revolution.

            Thanks,
