Hi,
I’ve just started using MODx, i’m getting to grips with the functionality nicely and must say im impressed with the quality of the system.
I want to set up a download system for freeware game mods, i’d like it to work like the one on the MODXCMS.COM website, can anyone explain how that is implemented / what snippets, plugins etc it might use.
Thanks,
StuButler

Define what you mean with the one on the MODx site?
When I set up a download centre for a client, I simply used a Ditto call to list all the documents within a container. By setting "Content-disposition" on a resources Settings tab to Attachment, the browser will prompt a download instead of viewing it.

Like, exactly mimic the way the Extras section works?
Or do you want the category listing? Or the way you’re being served your download? Or.... ?
I’d like to have catagory listings etc.
Pretty much exactly how that works as its similar to how my old site used to work on xoops before it broke.
Thanks

TvTagCloud should be able of helping you out with that (with displayType=`list` probably).
Just make a TV which contains the category or categories and set up the snippet.
Using the ditto call mentioned you can get the list of downloads using that tag/category. To change its layout, just use the tpl parameters of Ditto.
Hi, i can’t get TvTagCloud to work.
I’ve set up the template variable (i think correctly) - [*docTags*], type is text and put in some option values "Document==doc||Download==dwn"
I’ve added the contents of the txt as a snippet and used a snippet call -
[[TvTagCloud? &parent=`49` &landing=`52’ &tvTags=`docTags` &showCount=`1`]]
but the tag cloud doesnt appear, i just get a blank page.
Any ideas?

I have a similar need. I have some MP3s on a page (links to MP3s) that need to be downloaded rather than played in the browser (it’s a long story). Of course when people click on the links the browser just usually plays them. I can set a resource to attachment but how do you specify the path to the file?
