    Hi

I’ve had a look and cant find the answer

Is there any snippet (or similar way) to have a user generate content. So like a form that allows a registered member to upload images and text that will appear on the site. This has to be done via the site and not in the Manager....

    Thanks

      Hi,

that can be done off course. There are more ways too. You could google for "modx Basic_Blog" , or "modx eForm2db" and "modx fdm" might be usefull. Just check these and there are probably more options. Let us know what is usefull.

Thanks for the reply - Indeed what you sent is what I asked for BUT I suppose I never explained fully!

Currently in Modx, I have a News resource. Via manager, I can add new News items (as new resources) as children of the News resource. Im using Ditto and a newsTPL chunk to list the news items on the News page. Thats all fine and working....

If I wanted designated users (I’ve already created these web user accounts) to also contribute News to the site. How can I build the form to populate the already exisitng table (child resources of News) in the DB...

        Hope that makes sense...

PubKitBlog (and FDM also, I believe) can take a parameter to specify the parent to be created under, as well as the template to use.

Eform2db does just that, I use one on a simple page where registered users can create new or modify old data about "composers". http://www.pianoquartet.nl/Composers.html There is a magnfying glass for visitors, but after logon a pencil appears and some more icons, creating the option to edit, delete or add composers. Now this goes straight into fields in the DB, so that should all be possible. I (co) created some php scripts to handle this.

I am sure however that if you dig into eform2db you can do just that.

with FDM you can have a ’model-resource’ which can FDM clone and it’s possible to specify values for fields, I think. If not, you can use hidden input-fields to set values. FDM uses eForm for its Form-handling.
