    Hello awesome ModX community!

I’m new to ModX and trying to get some context for what the best way to develop a site would be. Download and installing/implementing a site-in-a-box from a trusted developer is always a great way to learn. I see that there are some amazing ones (paid is fine if free is unavailable) for Joomla, Drupal and WordPress, for example at this site: http://www.rockettheme.com/ (comes with multiple pages, functionality and styles - I’m only concerned with the first two), but every time I look up "modx templates" all I can find are a layout and styles.

    Any idea if this exists?

    Thanks!!

When installing MODx, you have the option of installing the demo site (it’s the first checkbox on the optional items to install page). That sets up a pretty comprehensive blogging site.

Well, that would have been helpful! I didn’t do the installation myself, so I’ll see if I can backtrack and have a look at that.
        Thanks!

If you upload the install folder again (it was probably removed upon the initial installation) you can run it again and choose "upgrade" (it will actually be selected for you, since the script can detect an existing config.inc.php file). Then when you get to the optional element installations page, you can select the "demo site" at the top of the page.

Be aware that this will overwrite any content you have. If you want to keep the content you already have, make sure to back up the database (Tools -> Backup, in the Manager) before you do this. Or make a second full install in a subdirectory; if you use a different prefix when installing (on the database selection page of the installer) you can even use the same database.

Thanks for being so thorough! I’ll definitely give this a try, sounds pretty straightforward.
            Yay!
