    Hi all,

    I use to play around with ModX a few years back on a localhost setup, now I thought I try out the latest version. So, I downloaded Xampp and installed, no problems... then downloaded ModX Evolution 1.0.3, installed without any trouble.

    Now then... the problem... when I try to login to the Manager I get a window pop up saying:

    Warning: strftime() [function.strftime]: It is not safe to rely on the system’s timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected ’Europe/London’ for ’1.0/DST’ instead in D:\xampplite\htdocs\mx1\manager\includes\document.parser.class.inc.php on line 1768

    If I click the ’Ok’ button, then click the ’My Site’ link above the ModX logo I get another page titled ’« MODx Parse Error »’ with practicaly the same message. Then, if I click ’Back’ on my browser it takes me to the ’Manager home page’ which also has several messages saying the same thing but pointing to different files:

    ’rss.inc.php on line 50’ and,
    ’welcome.static.php on line 143 and 160’ as well as the original,
    ’document.parser.class.inc.php on line 1768’

    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks J

      I think this has more to do with the later versions of PHP than MODx, though the messages don’t seem to be very helpful. Failure to declare a timezone in PHP causes higher levels of error message than in the past.

      Try setting your timezone in php.ini, e.g. a line reading
      date.timezone="Europe/London"
      or wherever you want it to be. I see the htaccess file distributed with MODx 1.0.3 also has a commented out line
      #php_value date.timezone Europe/Moscow
      which can presumably do the same thing via Apache if you’re not able to adjust your php.ini.

        Ther’s a bug filed about this http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/browse/MODX-1967
          Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

          Thank you both very much for the input, I was unable to access the link... my login details wouldn’t let me in sad

          @ KP, Yes, changing the php.ini from:

          ;date.timezone =

          to:

          date.timezone = "Europe/London"

          worked a treat. grin

          Regards J
