SOLVED - escaping mysql reserved words in modx select query

Hi, Im not a programmer, just a valiant designer so sorry if this is a dumb question. Im learning to create my first snippet and I want to do this:



In my template:

[[printBlocks? &region=`right`]]



Inside the "printBlocks" snippet:

$res = $modx->db->select("contentid","modx_evo_site_tmplvar_contentvalues","value=$region");



If I substitute "value=something else" I get a result, no problem. I suspect the problem is Im using the reserved word "right". Ive tried all kinds of ways of escaping it but nothing does the trick. Any ideas? Thanks!
