I have a fully working MODX registration process which works well for european and Chinese characters using UTF-8 (using webloginPE). We have recently set up a co-registration process where new users are coming through another website. This data is sent to me using $_GET and then inserted into the relevant tables.

The problem is that when this data includes Chinese characters the data isn’t recorded correctly. It seems to be a character set issue but since webloginPE is working fine and saving Chinese characters correctly I don’t understand why the external data isn’t saving correctly?

The db table is using collation: utf8_general_ci and the data is being sent as UTF-8 - if anyone know how to correct this please let me know!

Are you sure that the characters are being passed correctly via the URL? Can you decode Chinese characters that are URL encoded and passed via $_GET?
