Instalation stops at db

I am attempting to install modx on my windows laptop as my host. I can’t get past one of the first steps which asks for the database host, login name and password. I’m as much of a noob as one can get, and can’t figure out what the database host is. Everything I try gives me an error saying that the connection to the host has failed. Has anyone else done this before?

You need to provide more information, for example, are you using IIS or Apache? We can’t help you without knowing your PHP/Web Server setup and configuration. Please see here for required information.

My guess though is that you will need to use ’localhost’ as your database host if you aren’t already.
