This is probably really easy but my brain isn’t functioning this morning.
My client is a sole trader selling hand-made crafts. She has a set turnaround period for orders. However, sometimes she might have a holiday coming up or for whatever other reason needs to extend the turnaround period. She can put a note into her delivery conditions page but really wants to have a kind of splash page that she can turn on to appear instead of the normal home page where she can put up a notification of upcoming holidays etc. that visitors see before they go any further. Then, on closing the splash page, the site directs to the normal home page.
How would I do this in MODx without messing up the normal document numbering where the Home Page is document 0 and therefore always appears first? What am I missing? Thanks!

How about a TV of checkbox type that can be checked/cleared to add a paragraph (a chunk) to the home page?
Hi guys
Sorry for the late reply and thanks you for your suggestions. Took me a while to play around with. Decided to go for the TV checkbox which turns an absolutely positioned chunk hovering over the home page on or off. Thanks for that idea, Susan.
Have bookmarked the Meercat facility though. Looks like an interesting resource, sharkbait.
Thanks!
