I need to create a link directory where webusers can create links and categories as unpublished and then managers can publish or delete them.
I never touched webusers in MODx before so I took this night my time to read’n’learn and now I’m thinking weather I’m on a right track or no...
So I thought that I will create a document "categories" where I web users can create categories and under categories web users can create weblinks. It will be very simple link directory with one level of categories and on category page just link and short description of a link.
OK, now I did a deep dig into forum and extentions area to find out a way how webusers can create a documents under categories page from frontend. That wasn’t an easy task and NewsPublisher is also not supported from 1.0 so I ended up at PubKitBlog. Is that extention that you would suggest me to start learning to start using it on all similar needs where webusers must be able to add unpublished content immediatelly after registering their account?
I’d look into FDM .. I believe modx.it is build on it. I’ve used it to sort of build a dummy proof client UI.

Personally I feel PubKitBlog is much better, but in its current version it is somewhat rigid in its presumptions; for example "required" fields and a "required" selection of TVs for tags are hard-coded. I have modified it somewhat myself for specific uses, but I believe the original author is working with the underlying PubKit libraries to improve flexibility and increase the use of parameterized options. At this time, though, to make use of it for anything other than classic "blog" functions it requires at least a few modification to the main files.
Thanks, started playing with PubKitBlog and started from just setting up it as a blog as it’s meant to be to start from there but even installing it using the PDF instruction in ZIP file it’s not so easy.
I love NewsManager/NewsEditor. But my version is extremely modified.
I’d love to clean it up and share...
With some understanding in PHP and MODx it’s very simple to modify.
I needed to remove a in
// get date format
$dateformat = isset($dateformat) ? $dateformat : '%d-%m-%Y %H:%M:%S';
or it caused javascript errors.
I used this once

But then i switched to eform2db

Thanks mrhaw! I’ll read your suggestions next sleepless night. At the moment I got it working with PKblog. I just let people create documents where title is link name, longtitle is link url and introtext is shord description and in input type hidden I put the content and tags that were required fields and then so I display the link directory. Not sure yet how successful I will be creating different categories but at the moment it seems it’s gonna work.
