Sorry about this basic question but since i am relatively new to Modx ( i have the modx book and have nearly completeed my first modx site) I would like to know if there is a way to develop 2 sites at the same time on my localhost setup i.e. a differnt document tree using one install of Modx?
I cant see an option for this so far so I assume i may need to install multiple copies of Modx and just re-name the database? or am i missing the obvious?

    Thanks,

    Al

I believe this is somewhat possible with MODx Revolution As I understand it, not possible with Evolution

That’s right. Using MODx Evolution, you do need two separate installs and a different DB or a different table prefix.

Thanks for that i will go ahead and install another copy on my machine. Im using evolution.
I assume that the automatic install wont throw up any errors if it detects another copy of modx on my machine or any conflicts? I dont want to loose my current project by accident!

          thanks,

As long as they are in separate subdirectories and use a different DB (or a different table prefix), the two installs each won’t know the other exists.
