How could I use simple PHP functions on MODx?... like GET or ECHO??

Hi everyone!
This is my very first post on MODx.
I am switching to modx cms for the first time; on my previous page, I had a PHP page witch collected some some data coming in from other page, so I used the $_GET to collect this info, then print it over some input fields to be resubmitted and ECHO to display the result.

In MODx, I wrote this simple lines on a Snippet but it doesnt do anything.
Can anyone tell me what could the problem be?

In MODx, any PHP code you want to use is put into "Snippets". Then you put a reference to the Snippet on the pages where you want to see the Snippet’s results.

I visited your site and it s quite nice and helpful.
I have been able to set a few things to work on PHP now, but came across another little ’problem’, but you know... I figured that some snippets work when they are set into a chunk and then the chunk placed into the page. Dont know if that is should be the way to work it out, but it worked for me.
