I have created a Flash animation on my home page and embedded it directly in the content section of the code. The header code is placed in the template. I’m using swfObject. The animation is made of several quick link buttons that link to certain parts of the site and a photo slideshow. I am using absolute paths for all URLs in the flash movie that point to objects outside of the file itself, such as: links on the buttons, path to the XML file and paths in the XML file that point to the photos.
Also, I made sure my site_url is correct and that the base href code for it is in the template for the home page as well as the template used for all other pages.

In Firefox 3.6.x, If I navigate to the home page, none of the links work and the slideshow does not appear at all unless I navigate to another page on the site then navigate back to the home page. Then, everything works as normal.

In Internet Explorer 8, everything works fine and appears correctly the first visit.
In Internet Explorer 7, I get similar results as in Firefox. Are there any suggestions before I abandon MODx for this project and find another CMS?

Never mind, the issue is with the hosting company’s MySQL server. Apparently, a customer’s code is frequently overloading the MySQL server causing performance issues and only serving part of the page content at times so the flash is not loading completely and a revisit to the page finally gets the remaining data into the browser to sufficiently run the flash movie. >:( I guess I’m gonna have to move the site to another server ... sounds like fun! >:(
