Don’t know if it will help, but here’s the TinyMCE settings I’m using:
MODx v1.03 / TinyMCE v3.3.2
Theme: Custom
Custom Plugins: pagebreak,style,layer,table,save,advhr,advimage,advlink,emotions,inlinepopups,insertdatetime,preview,media,searchreplace,print,contextmenu,paste,directionality,fullscreen,noneditable,visualchars,nonbreaking,xhtmlxtras,template,spellchecker
Custom Buttons
Row 1: save,newdocument,|,bold,italic,underline,strikethrough,|,justifyleft,justifycenter,justifyright,justifyfull,|,styleselect,formatselect,fontselect,fontsizeselect,styleprops,spellchecker
Row 2:
cut,copy,paste,pastetext,pasteword,|,search,replace,|,bullist,numlist,|,outdent,indent,blockquote,|,undo,redo,|,link,unlink,anchor,|,image,media,|,insertdate,inserttime,preview,|,forecolor,backcolor
Row 3:
tablecontrols,|,removeformat,visualaid,|,sub,sup,|,nonbreaking,hr,advhr,charmap,emotions,|,code,cleanup,|,fullscreen,print,help
I’ve also set the editor to (most often) display at approx 500-550 px wide (depending on the site) -- just makes it a little easier for end user to get closer match for final display. I try to set it for the width of the content column in the layout. It’s made it much easier for them to line up their content for displaying -- the full width editor was confusing them a bit when they typed in their content and had to keep previewing it and they couldn’t figure out how to arrange the content alignments where they wanted it displaying.
