    Hi all,

    sorry to ask this silly question but i couldn’t find the answer after several searches...

    i’ve just upgraded to the latest evolution release and i run into a little problem with the characters in the manager input that are completely utf-8 encoded, hard to read smiley
    of course, i use utf-8 as the charset, i’ve converted the index.php file into utf-8 and my db (mysql5) uses utf-8 too

    the silly thing is that, i had already encountered that problem and solved it but, too bad, i can’t remember what the solution was...

    any help would be warmly appreciated smiley

    thanks in advance

      found out !! in case it could help someone else, it’s just that f.... firefox known bug with Helvetica, particularly with ajax.
      Changing the font-family into Arial first has solved the problem

      if ever it someone would be interested in, there is the same problem in the svn docs
      http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx096/Home
      just go with firefox, and have a look at what the input text content look...

      and the simple reason is

      input {
      font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
      font-size: 10pt;
      color: #000;
      }

      in the css.
      funny enough, there is the same problem on the w3c.validator, my best friend ever... after a first validation

      anyway, thanks for your help... smiley and,

      have swing

        For a database in utf-8/utf8_general_ci for swedish content (as an example)
        one really need to set swedish_utf8 as language file (instead of just swedish)
        for the manager or it will break operations etc.

        To change collation from default latin1_swedish to
        utf8_general_ci one has to change it in "operations"
        for the db using phpMyAdmin before install.

          Hi mshaw,

          thanks smiley
          maybe you haven’t totally read my post smiley or maybe it is my Frenchy pidjin English (sorry for that...:))

          actually, i’ve solved the problem which was only a "little" font-family issue (that well-known firefox bug with helvetica)

          once i’ve solved this (stupid guy i am not to have thought about it sooner...), i’ve installed two instances of Modx, one in utf-8 and one in French non-utf-8 (latin general ci) and everything works fine as it used to do before smiley

          thanks anyway for taking time to answer
