    Hi,

Did anyone here successfully migrated Joomla users to Modx?
If not, is it possible? I’m not currently familiar with how the passwords are managed in both systems.

If they use the same encryption than it should be easy. Otherwise I presume is impossible without resetting the passwords or creating a different login system.

    Any other opinions?

    Thank you!

      I managed to find that:

      Joomla uses:
      md5(’password’ . ’32 salt’)

      Modx

      md5(’password’)

So I guess the only solution is to hack modx to use salt at least for web users. Any pointers on where should I start?

I think modx should use this system by default as it is more secure. Is this something that the modx team wants to add in the core?

      Thank you.

A configurable password salt, like a unique session ID, very well would be a good idea IMO.
