I’d like to create a template that allows a non-technical user to add pages to their site.
Essentially, all pages look like this:

some descriptive textimageimageimage

imageimageimage

It’s sort of an image gallery. It’s a text description of a product and up to 6 photos.
Ideally, when they go to create a new page with this template, I’d like the system to ask them for the descriptive text (which could be just the content) and some images. As in, a button to allow them to upload image 1, a second to allow them to upload image 2...etc.
Is there any way I could add something to a template such that when the user went to create a new page, choosing that template, it would allow them to upload an image into one of these image slots?
I could also imagine maybe clicking on some placeholder image in the rich text editor.
At any rate, something that let a user manage the images on a page but without being able to change the format of the page.

You could use six "image" type TVs. If the new documents are in the same folder as the others, the "inherit template" plugin would come into effect, as long as the parent folder for these has the same template.
There is also a way to enhance the "inherit template" plugin to use siblings as well as parent to determine what template will be used automatically.

Thank you. This looks promising.

Another interesting idea is to have an image uploader like this

I haven’t completed the article walking through how to do it, but it can allow multiple uploads.
Since it’s AJAX you could write another bit to the post-processor that loads the newly uploaded image into the browser immediately.
