    Hello All!

Another time for me to ask some newbie questions but I hope you don’t get too mad at me and I presume these questions have been asked 100000 times before, so if anyone could link me some answers that would be fantastic ! Any help would also be greatly appreciated!

Right now I am working on the raw code version of my website before I go into further graphical aspects-

    Website : http://www.fiery-legends.de

    Screenshot 2:

    Here are some questions:

    1) Am I on the right track in the way I have created my "resources" for my pages? and the way I have made each resource linked to a layout_page (repetetive xhtml code with different code for anything below the header)

    2) Is there a way to create an overlay Login_Bar e.g. http://ugame.net/ (top) for modx-based websites?

    3) For instance, let us look at team news: I would like to be able to handle the news and add a news whenever I wish (a little like the Blogs), what is the exact code I must insert in the teamnews? Is it like the "ditto" etc stuff in the Blogs-resource?

    4) What snippet/tv/"what" must I use for the "Previous/Latest News" boxes so that it displays the latest 5/6 news automatically?

    5) Same question for 3) but for matches, awards, features etc...what is to code to handle the content :s!

    6) Once I have an answer for 3) and 5) how do I make it such that e.g. Team-news -> I add a news(sub-resource) -> It is saved as a file in a folder on my ftp-Does this even happen?

    7) Are there any e-sports/gaming based add-ons for MODX? For instance, for squads/news etc

    8) Are there in-built forums in MODX? Or how do I make a "forum" based and editable with modx?

THANKS! Really, I WOULD be sooooooo grateful if these questions could all be answered^^-> reward = cookies laugh

Here’s my take on your questions:

        1. Looks good to me. Remember, you can also use chunks in your template to separate out common stuff like the header - that way, you only have to update it in one place for all your templates.
        2. You could do this, either by hacking the WebLogin snippet to get the layout you want, or maybe even WebLoginPE (WebLoginPE might be more easily customized)
        3. I can’t give you the exact code, but yes, use Ditto.
        4. Use Ditto.
        5. Depends on how your content will be structured and what kind of output you want. If you want a list, use Ditto.
        6. Pages are stored in the database, not on the filesystem.
        7. Not that I’m aware.

Search the forums for forum solutions, there are several bridges available between MODx and other forums (with varying degrees of success). I seem to remember (but could be wrong) that someone had coded up a MODx-driven forum for Evo, but don’t have a link for that.

There is a SMF module or plugin for evo that lets MODx users use SMF.

              Thanks for all the replies.

@garryn: Thanks for reminding me the thing about chunks! I finally understand how to use them! I’ll update this with how my results were smiley
