I am trying to prevent the Top level of a tree being edited by a user.
I want the user to be able to create resources UNDER that document, but not edit the document itself.
If I change the access permissions it means that the user can no longer create resources under the doc.
Any Suggestions?

The "show protected pages" option in the Interface and Features tab of the Configuration should allow the user to create resources under the protected resource. I would suspect that the protected resource must already be set to be a "container".
Thanks for your help Susan.
I changed the configuration setting and now the user can see all the docs in the tree.
It the top doc in the tree is still set as Container.
However, when the user tries to create a resource on the top doc, (This doc has access permissions set to admin only), The user gets a message you do not have access permissions.
Any Suggestions?

Tools | Configuration | allow_root.
It’s off by default but necessary for users to create docs in the root.
Hi, Thanks again for your reply.
I Tried this, But...
The place I want the user to be able to create a doc is not in the root. It is one level Down from root.
So under a doc that is under the root.

As Admin user, create a document where you want the user to be able to create documents. Leave it unpublished. The user will be able to duplicate that document and edit it.
Hi Susan,
Yes!...I Think I follow!
I will try that.
