Hi,
I thought I understand the manager users and permission concept but I was wrong. I searched the forum for this and I tried all but does not work for me. What I am doing is pretty simple though.
- I created a new user named "John" with the "Editor" role.
- John belongs to the user group named "Editor".
- This user group also linked to resource group named "Editor Pages"
My document tree:
Language1
-page1
-page2
-page3
-page4
language2
-page5
-page6
-page7
-page8
Untitled Resource
Repository
-page9
-page10
-page11
On page1, on the "access permission" tab I marked this resource belongs to resource group "Editor Pages" and I saw the "lock" icon next to the "page1" on the document tree. But John still can see a whole document tree and be able to edit all pages. He should have been able to see or access only page1. Did I do something wrong??
I tried to change access permission to "Site admin pages" ("Site admin pages" is already in there, I didn’t create it) and that did not work and produced error and messed up the websites when viewing and then I realized site admin pages is for web user permission.
I want john to be able to access and edit only page1, page2, page5, and page 6. If john can only see those pages on the document tree that would be great. Or if he can see the whole document tree but can only acess or modify the pages he’s allowed to is fine too.
Also he should not be able to access "untitled resource" and "repository either".
So what should I do to achieve this?
Thanks a lot in advance.

No. All resources are editable by everyone unless they are assigned to a document group with a corresponding manager user group. Once a resource is assigned to a group, then only the manager users assigned to the corresponding manager user group can edit it.
To block editing of all resources by non-valid manager users, they must all be assigned to a document group. This can be done in bulk using the DocManager module (from the Modules menu).
Thanks for a quick reply. Yes it all makes sense now. I tried to use DocManager module a little bit before but didn’t get a chance to create a new user and assign other resources to user group and document group associated with this user. I just now created a new user along with his user & document groups. The result is the other editor cannot see those files that belongs to the new user in the doc tree now. Thanks again. This is great.
