    Hey guys,

I’m sort of new to all this, so I’m guessing I’m missing something pretty basic. I have a website running on modx (http://www.gloryspeaking.com) that is currently all in English. However I want to make it multi lingual, in English and Japanese. I followed this:

    http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Make_Multi_Lingual_Site

And it works great, I have a test section set up, and the switching between pages with the flag icons thing works fine. However, I can’t figure out how to get Japanese characters to display on the pages that are supposed to be Japanese. They just show up as ?? (see: http://www.gloryspeaking.com/index.php?id=24 for example).

In the manager under configuration I have the Character encoding set to Unicode utf-8.

I tried typing in Japanese characters in the Title field on a page and in the content section, however after saving, Modx just changed them all to ??.

Do I have to create different templates for Japanese pages? Any help would be appreciated!

    UPDATE
I also just checked the MySQL Database, and it’s actually storing just ?? in the content field, so it’s not even putting my japanese characters into the database.

What is the charset and collation of your database? Reports -> System Info will tell you this.

        It’s:

        Database Charset latin1
        Database Collation Charset latin1_swedish_ci

Sounds like that’s the problem... but I have no idea how to change that, or what I should set it to.
