mod_rewrite to create Friendly URLs for pages outside MODx

I have two files that exist outside of MODx and I’d like to turn them into friendly URLs.

For Example:

http://www.fairview-condo.com/br.php?br=1

should be http://www.fairview-condo.com/br1.html

I was thinking that line of code in my .htaccess file should do the trick:

but that isn’t working. The full contents of my .htaccess file is attached.

Thanks for looking at this....hopefully you might be able to help me out.

Cheers~!
