I need a quick, simple way that webusers from a certain group (I have webloginPE running) are able to submit events to the website. I’d like the ability to list events is a simple date-ordered list, as well as have a simple calendar that shows upcoming events. Anyone have a favorite solution?

This is done with my listing and calendar-system bloX:

      http://www.rgmarktheidenfeld.de/termine.html

webusers can add events to the database.

if you want to try it out and want to learn how bloX works I will commit the latest version to github.

For a simple list, such as events or FAQ question/response, I’ve been using Jot with good results. It can easily be set up to allow various adding/editing options, from manger users only to specified web group members able to add and edit their own entries, as well as moderation permissions. I’ve even gotten the file and image browser set up in its input form, as well as a rich text editor. Right now I’m working on drag-and-drop item ordering.

It should not be difficult to convert a simple calendar-generating script to use the Jot database table for its input.

Hi Susan, nice Idea to do the inputs with jot.
Listing and making the calendar-view with bloX from jot.database should be no problem then.

The only quibble I have with Jot is that its custom fields table is a nasty attributes-type table, with only three fields; one for the item (comment) ID, one for the name of the attribute (field) and one for the value of the attribute. That makes custom queries excessively convoluted, as well as eliminating the possibility of specifying data types for any given custom field. I’m thinking of forking it once I have some extra time to make it a little more friendly for multi-purpose use, including added parameters for filtering.
