I need a little help with creating a number ticker that is continuous even if someone leaves the page and returns...
I searched google for number ticker, progressive ticker, flash ticker etc etc etc and nothing comes up that is any use.
I want to have a counter that continually counts up. It’s for a mock casino and I wanted to have a pretend jackpot ticker on there. It’s not essential but thought it would be fun to add!
Thanks
Do you want something that is continually growing? How about time?
$now = strtotime ("now");
$offset = 1234567899;
echo $now - $offset;

If you just want to count during that person’s visit, you could update a $_SESSION variable in a snippet. If you want a continuous counter for all visitors, you could use a snippet in your template that would read the value from a file, add one to it, and save it back to the file before returning the number for display. You could also create a separate DB table to hold the number in a single record.

Thanks for the replies...
I was more thinking along the lines of fast counting timer. Rather than being static and updating when the page refreshes, that the counter counts up like a stop watch.
I found this one

But I would like it to start when the visitor arrives rather than clicking start.... also I would like it to start from a large number to make it appear there’s a large amount of money to win. As I said, it’s a mock casino for my college project and I just wanted to make it a little more fun.

Nice one mrhaw! That’s a great looking ticker actually, I’ll see if that does the job.
