Hi, I’m really scratching my head on this sad

I’m working on a clients site coachamal.com, using modx evo 1.0.2. Everything was working well up to the time I made some changes this morning, now I’ve broken it and can’t work out why or how to put it back. Any help greatly appreciated.

I wanted a css style to be included in one document (the homepage id=1) and not others:
    I followed this tutorial http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Dynamic_CSS_with_TVs
I created two style sheets (one default (id=70), one with some extra styles(id=71)), a template variable (customCSS) with a default value pointing to the default style sheet, edited my template as stated, edited my home document and set the customCSS template variable to the ID 71 style sheet

I previewed my site (in the same browser, while logged in to the manager) and everything was as expected
I tested on a different browser and none of my (previously working) URL aliases with mod_rewrite and .htaccess work any more.
    I keep getting the homepage.

A bit more investigation, and I set my error page to a known working and published page. Now all pages lead to this page.
[UPDATE: it wasn’t previously actually published, causing Too many forwarding errors]

I’ve been trying to undo what I’ve done by:
unchecking the template that can access this Template Variable
deleting the css line from the template
    checking .htaccess is ok
turning off friendly URLs and trying to get to the page with, example, ?id=9
    clearing the cache
deleting the template variable (warned that it was in use by homepage, confirmed delete)

So, why does the site work when I’m logged in to the manager, and why is it broken when I’m not ?!?

    thanks in advance,
    Robin

      right, I’m an idiot.

Non of the pages were published, I just thought they were.
sorry to trouble everyone. I have now got the site working as I expected.

      regards,
      Robin
