Hey, just wondering if anyone is able to help me.

I’ve recently set-up a F1 website, and after getting some advice using ModX to do this, however come across a problem which I cant seem to work out.

If you go to f1.kiernet.com and hover over the ’circuit’, it comes up with ’Australian’, what I want is when your hovering over ’Australian’ it says ’2009’, then when you hover over that, it comes up with ’Qualifying’ and ’Race’, you select the one you want, and it takes you to the race results for that circuit / year.

If anyone is able to help me, that would be great.

    Thanks, Kier.

This should not be very hard to achieve.

First you will need to set up your site content structure to reflect the menu structure you desire. You need to have the ’Australian’ document contain a ’2009’ document which in turn contains the ’Qualifying’ and ’Race’ documents.

Next you need to look at the wayfinder snippet call in your template and set the ’level’ parameter to 4 (or remove it altogether), now the menu should contain the markup for all the entries but without the appropriate styling.

Whats left is to style the menu, this has little to do with MODx, just edit the css according to your needs. You might want to search for multi level css menu on this forum and the internet.

Thanks for the reply, although I don’t really understand what you are saying.

I’ve made a document called ’2009’, and under there, I’ve got ’Qualifying’ and ’Race’.

The rest I didn’t understand, is there any chance of explaining it again?

        Thanks, Kier.

Going through the tutorials first is a good suggestion, at least until you understand the common modx terms and what they mean.

Is the ’2009’ document under the ’Australian’ document? If not move it there.

Now for the rest, your pages share a common template, you will find it under Resources -> Manage Resources -> Templates. Open it for editing and it should contain (among other things) a line calling the wayfinder snippet, something like:
            [!Wayfinder? &startId=`1`!]

This snippet is responsible for creating the html markup for the menu.
Copy this line here and we will try and continue from there.
