already using the alias

  I’ve done something stupid: I created a duplicate of my home page which then created duplicates of all the other pages. I deleted all the duplicates including the duplicate home page. I am now trying to amend an existing page but when I try to save it I get ’Resource ’56’ is already using the alias ’districts-wg’. Please enter a unique alias.’
  
  Resource 56 was the duplicate of the home page (I’think’) which has now been deleted and cache cleared and deleted items purged.
  
  Any advice on how I get out of this one other than renaming the page that I am trying to amend?

  Solved it myself- even more stupid than I first thought.
  
  A glance at the database showed that it was linked to another page - not the deleted one that I thought it was. So I renamed the ’missing’ page and will delete it later.
