    Hi guys.
    I’m trying to install modx.
I have untarred modx into a directory, and I’ve set up apache to serve from that dir.

    My server returns this error

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

This is a local test server that I have control over.
I have set it up to execute php files normally.

What could be the cause of this?

      Sorry. My mistake.

      I didn’t have mod_rewrite enabled.

      Enabling mod_rewrite solved this problem.

I’m testing on a local server, so I have complete control from the command line.
All I needed to do was this:

              a2enmod rewrite

You might have to do things differently on your host depending on it’s configuration.

Thank you robrob for your replay, I also have full control over my VPS hosting and my mod_rewrite was enabled by default.

The problem in my case was with the PHP on my server, And the solution was to recompile it and it is now functioning properly.
                And modx is working great..
