Hi... I have an embarrassingly basic question here...
I have installed Modx 1.0.0 locally on my mac with mamp,
and have my website working in modx and ready
to upload to the internet. I am not finding any
instructions for doing this. Can someone point me
    in the right direction?
    Thanks, L

Thanks for your reply, for the link and for the welcome.
OK, so I’m now on a steep learning curve...
For instance I have no idea how to achieve Step 1.
What is that coding? Please excuse my ignorance and point
me in THAT direction maybe with a reference link and I’ll
see how much fun I can have with it. (My current state of
mind: >:( seems pretty complicated for just uploading
        a website... ). Thanks again.

I think the instructions here are a little clearer: http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx096/Moving+Site

You should already have the ht.access file in the root of your MODx install locally and it will already have most of that code in it. (The lines starting with # are comments and are ignored). The server looks for a file named .htaccess, so when it’s named ht.access, the whole file is ignored.

Those rewrite rules are in the .htaccess file for implementing SEO-friendly URLs (FURLS for short). Google modx friendly URLs for more info. By default in MODx, you get a URL like http:yoursite.com/index.php?id=3. After doing the .htaccess thing, you could have something like http:yoursite.com/products.html which helps you with search engines. Step 1 is there because almost everyone implements FURLs. If you haven’t done it, you can either do it on the local site (make sure everything is working before moving the site) and follow steps 1 and 2 -- or you can just skip those steps and implement FURLs later on the remote site.

          Hope this makes sense. smiley
