I would like the ability to use "Use Friendly URL alias path" so I have a Parent/Child.html and be able to move a resource while keeping the path. I have the FURL setup currently and is working fine. What I would then like to do is move old articles into an Archive. When I do this, the location will change if someone has the page bookmarked. Example: mysite.com/topics/article1.html gets moved to the archive folder folder within topics. So the new path is mysite.com/topics/archive/article1.html, thus breaking the link.
Is there any way to get this done?

The default behavior is that the location within the doc tree determines the URL. It’s not easy to circumvent that, but it’s not a new problem that you’re describing. I know I’ve had that problem on sites, but I can’t remember how I addressed it. I don’t think using 301 redirects is a good solution... if you want SEO value, you want your links to stay put. Maybe someone else has a better solution for how to organize docs without changing their URL.
I think you can create a plugin that works on the Page Not Found event.
If your page is called your-page.html and is not found try and search it in the archives
If found redirect or forward to archives/your-page.html.
I don’t think it’s hard to do. I estimate it to 2 3 hours with the correct knowledge.
