I rescently inherited a webserver running modx that is getting very old and needs to be moved to a new server. The server that it is currently on is running Suse 10. The new server will be an Ubuntu server, but my question is, is there an easy way to migrate my modx installation/sites to the new server? any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Derek

Zip the site up, back up the database and then bring the files over the new server, and then unzip them there. Import the database into a new database on your new server (PHP MyAdmin is easy to do this on). Then go into your files that you just unzipped and go to manager >> includes >> config.inc.php and update the information there (i.e. db name, username, password, etc.). Once you’ve updated your config file and imported the database, login via the Manager, go to Tools >> Configuration >> File Manager and change the file path for "File Manager Path:" and click on the "Interface & Features" tab and scroll down to the "Resource path:" and update there. This should hopefully get you on your way smiley
