We’ve got friendly URLs working nicely. However, whenever you use the Preview button in the manager while working on a document, you get a ugly URL (i.e. http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=526). I’d really like for MODx to rewrite any such URL, for one, to prevent duplicate content and also because ugly URLs are just that; ugly. laugh

I found a plugin called SEO Strict URLs that does this. Unfortunately, it does some other stuff that we don’t need (and that actually breaks our site) so I was wondering if there’s any other way to get just the rewrite part.

FYI, MODx 2.x (Revolution) already features Preview links that respect Friendly URL settings, and all URLs are strict automatically without any extra plugins.

In Evo, I just keep the site open in another browser where I’m not logged into the Manager and preview there.

As do I. smiley The client however, doesn’t. And when they send links manually for whatever reason, they very often tend to be the ugly ones. Hence my quest to find a solution to this. wink

Ah . . . I hadn’t thought of that. Most of my clients aren’t sophisticated enough to send links. wink

Well, at least some of mine are. laugh They have pages in the MODx site tree that does not show up in any menus. They send the URLs from these via email (a completely separate CRM system, I believe) and the only way to get to the page is to use the preview button, unless you try to calculate the URL by looking at the aliases in the hierarchy, which isn’t very convenient. smiley

I’m not sure, but I think you could use a plugin to modify those URLs to be accurate.

Seems 1.0.4 has the solution to this now. smiley
