Good day from NYC. I’m absolutely in awe at how flexible MODx is compared to Joomla. Your CMS, and framework, is quite intuitive, yet very powerful especially with the 960 framework. Kudos to your team- your platform is saving my outfit both time and money. I will donate as soon as I get chance smiley

          Welcome to the community!
Aside from having installed Joomla and poking around (then deciding to stick with pure php development until I came across MODx), I’m not that familiar with it. Once you get over the initial euphoria of using modx, please don’t hesitate to contribute suggestions, criticisms etc. Your familiarity with the Joomla perspective could be very helpful as the modx user base continues to expand and take on more and more converts.
And no, I haven’t gotten over the initial euphoria yet myself wink

                +1 Welcome grin grin

Did you migrate any existing sites from Joomla to MODx? It would be nice if we could prepare some instructions for this process to help others make te change. It may not be easy since both have unique data structures.

Not yet. We’re actually using MODx to develop smaller ’satellite’ sites that connect to Jomsocial, an excellent social network component for Joomla. These satellites will feed data to the parent site, which is built entirely in Joomla. I’ll be sure to post some comments on the development. I’m also working on a small school site with a 960 Grid and MODx combo- huge time saver.

I can say right off the bat that the template system in MODx is excellent- standard XHTML and CSS with no fuss. One problem with Joomla is that the components and modules are not streamlined enough to output uniformity without hours of hacking. With MODx, you have more control over how a snippet or TV plays with your site.

Thank you all for the warm welcome smiley
