Sounds like just a simple error in the Revo port of Ditto.

You could just be dealing with a bug in Ditto. The port to Revo is fairly recent and you may be the first to try that capability.

I think it’s about time to post it to Jira using the link at the top of this page.

Just looked, and the issue already exists. Removing the extra ’a’ as detailed at http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/browse/DITTO-27 solves the error, but this really needs to be released as it’s a ridiculously simple solution. All seems to be pretty much dandy now but I’ll report back in the case of any more issues.

It seems I spoke too soon. Although I’ve been able to stop the filter producing an error, it still doesn’t work as expected. Here is my left column Ditto call:

          [[!Ditto? &parents=`[[*id]]` &tpl=`content_block` &filter=`blocklocation,left,1` !]]

          and right column:

          [[!Ditto? &parents=`[[*id]]` &tpl=`content_block` &filter=`blocklocation,right,1` !]]

For testing I have two pages, both with two children. One of each pair of children has blocklocation set to left, one to right. On the home page, the first of the test pages, the above call results in both children appearing in the left column and neither on the right (wrong). On the second test page, the one set to left appears on the right and the other does not appear at all.

I have no idea how to go about tracking this down.

I’ve just spent half an hour rebuilding the site in Evolution, and was pleasantly surprised to find that filtering appears to work perfectly in the included version of Ditto. Seeing as this is only a small project, I think I’ll live with the relative limitations of Evo. Also, if I get time, I’ll write something up on this technique, as I can imagine there are quite a few people like me wondering how to do this.

On a side note: the Evolution manager is /so/ fast! I couldn’t quite believe it coming from Revo. I do like Revo’s layout much better, but it seriously wants moar speedz.

UPDATE I’ve created a Wiki page on how to do this.
